Hunting the Hunter

bullet Most of or leases hold an abundance of predators.  Coyotes are commonly sighted (and heard) by most all of our hunters.
bullet Foxes are also common throughout Kansas, Missouri and Iowa  - red foxes, and gray foxes in some areas.
bullet Our bowhunters regularly report seeing bobcats from their tree stands at dawn and at dusk, more than in any previous years. Bobcat  make a fine trophy mount, especially for the bowhunter.
bullet Keeping the abundant predator populations in check will benefit quail, pheasant, turkey and other game species populations, as well as non-game species. Each spring, many newborn fawns fall to coyotes. Without human hunters to control them, predator population ratios to prey species often get out of balance.
bullet Seasons and limits are liberal in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. In fact, predator hunting seasons often remain open when seasons for other game hunting are closed, giving MAHA members more hunting opportunities throughout the year. As always, check with local state government regarding licenses, seasons, and regulations. Be sure and note regulations regarding furbearers regulations, seasons and limits.
