Missouri hunting within this Association is for duck, goose, deer, turkey and quail.

This is the most hunter friendly state of our three state hunting region with all licensing and tags available online or over the counter purchase. All tags are state wide.

Posted are county names and acreage within that county available for hunting.

Our hunting land runs through the agricultural regions of corn and soybean farming. Land usage is up to 55% in farming. The land is heavily cut by rivers, streams and dry drainage's as this area is in the geographic region of the central lowlands. This region has good soil and rainfall to allow the higher value gains to be grown. This makes for much protective cover and grain winter food source in close proximity throughout the entire region.

Missouri Deer Hunting - four point one side zone grain farm land

Missouri deer hunting has become as competitive as that of Kansas, Iowa or Illinois.

The watershed hallmark was the advent of the four point one side zone. This zone has matured allowing bucks to develop racks into their prime years. The result is a large ratio of trophy quality racks. Proof of this is inclusive that this land is the most expensive of our three state region. That expense is driven by the more competitive nature of private land leasing in a region surrounded by Des Moines, Saint Louis and Kansas City.

Combined with the best Missouri deer hunting being within the high value grain farming region is the lack of public land within this region is a problem. This combination makes competition for available lease land more sever than in Iowa or Kansas. With the Association's approach of each hunter may develop multiple spots to hunt makes the Association Missouri deer land all the more attractive.

The self guided deer hunter will be able to develop as many spots as he has time to place stands. Giving to himself the ability to have a choice from day to day where, or which stand to hunt across several farms prevents over pressuring any one spot. It also develops a great range of opportunity to get on a trophy. Contrasted to a small acreage individual lease is no comparison to have thousands of acres to pick from.

Missouri Duck Hunting - within micro flyways made known during 19th century market hunting

Missouri duck hunting is the best of our waterfowl areas. We maintain several wetlands with permanent blinds, wade-in and layout boat areas.

No duck hunter is limited to just one wetlands or blinds. Each may chose where to hunt based on local flyways, weather or favored type of wetlands habitat of marsh, open water, flooded crop, slough or timber.

Self guided duck hunters chose for themselves from day to day what wetlands, blind, wade-in or layout boat area to hunt. Those that like field and combination field and wet sets will find more crop field acreage to set a spread than time in a week to cover. this flexibility of time and location earns the self guided hunter that satisfaction of having made his own success no matter how many birds or not that may be had. The good hunt will always make for a good time.

Those with dogs may also enjoy a pheasant or quail hunt.

Missouri Goose Hunting - over crop stubble fields and water

Missouri goose hunting is over all of our tens of thousands of crop land acreage. This allows the goose hunter to scout where the geese are, set up nearby then work the flights. A much better approach than picking a spot and hope they show up.

Watching the migratory reports, the Missouri Department of Conservation refuge counts, getting the snow line map all work together to get the hunter where he needs to be.

This is the case where the self guided goose hunter does have the one resource that degrades most goose hunts, that of land. When the geese are in the Association has the land to make each day a productive scouting of hunt day. The real challenge is the wealth of the land resource. it will take homework to narrow down where to put in that scouting time.

Missouri Turkey Hunts The Best We have- combined spring season hunt with Iowa and Kansas

Missouri turkey hunting is as good as turkey hunting gets with Missouri having more spring birds harvested than any other state.

Planning a Missouri turkey hunt as well as one in Kansas or Iowa or both on the same trip is easily accomplished. Once tagged out start deer scouting for the fall deer hunt. The value of self guided hunts is that each hunter makes the hunt that best fits his plans.

Missouri Quail Hunting - coveys and singles 2 1/2 month season

Missouri quail hunting is as good as it is due to Missouri having the right rainfall and soil to grow year to year soybean and corn.

These two crops rotate on the same fields making for years of waste grain food to carry the coveys through the winter. These same fields are cut by wet and dry drainage's, fence rows and waterways placing protective cover near the winter food source. This sustains the coveys to very localized areas or anchoring them from hunt to hunt. The smart quail hunter will keep his map up to date on covey finds and soon will have more coveys to hunt than time. That is if he is smart and does not hunt a covey to extinction and explores new ground each trip. The payback comes with the next pup. That pup will be on more wild quail in a shorter span of time than most dogs developing his bird sense early.

The self guided quail hunter will enjoy having more land to hunt each day than daylight hours. He will be able to hunt a new field edge each time stepping from the truck the entire trip never having to cross his tracks. He will not mix his dogs with others. The core enjoyment remains the self guided quail hunt. The hunter sets his own pace behind his own dogs enjoining the day at his pace. the not seeing other hunters, not mixing dogs with others with coveys to be found give the satisfaction of having been able to have hunted enough.

Quail hunting is also more reliable than our pheasant hunts in terms if the number one disadvantage to be experienced. That disadvantage is wind. The wooded and brush edge lines will provide wind break to allow for a good hunt regardless of the wind speed. Contrast that to the Association's open pheasant lands and a 15 MPH wind seems amplified. The degraded scent cone makes good dog work tough to come by.

Overall the Missouri hunting land in north central Missouri historically provides the best quail hunts within this organizations range or land.
