Prairie Chicken

bullet Greater Prairie Chicken Hunting
bullet Private Hunting Leases in Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas
bullet Can be Combined with Quail

We are fortunate in Kansas to have a good population of greater prairie chickens. This bird offers even greater variety beyond the more common quail and pheasant hunting, to offer a unique challenge to the upland bird hunter.

Quail hunting in Southeast, Central, and South Central Kansas, the hunter must be prepared to identify the Prairie Chicken.  Quail hunters frequently mis-identify them as hen pheasants and only realize the mistake as the fast, high flying bird is long out of range.  The Prairie Chicken has a tremendous scent cone, apparently more intense than quail, allowing dogs to work them on longer tracking and stand off than quail coveys.
